Scholarships 2010 / 2011
Overview
The Board of Directors of ICA Casey College Ltd has determined that scholarships will be awarded to students eligible to commence their studies at the College in:
- Year 10 (2010) / Year 11 (2011);
- Year 8 (2010) / Year 9 (2011);
- Year 6 (2010) / Year 7 (2011).
External applicants able to commence their studies at the College during Semester Two, 2010 shall receive preference in the selection process over external candidates who choose to commence from Term One 2011.
Applications should be submitted on the accompanying ICA Casey College 2010 / 2011 Scholarship Application Form. The 2010 / 2011 Scholarships will attract a 50% remission on tuition fees for the duration of the student's schooling to the end of Year 12 (to a maximum of six years in secondary school).
Application Submission Instructions
Please note: There are TWO steps to the application process - see points 1 and 2 below.
- Each candidate is required to complete the written application form in their own handwriting. Each application must be accompanied by a copy of that candidate’s latest school report ONLY.
- Each candidate must register for the ICA Casey College Scholarship test by visiting the scholarships hyperlink below:

Scholarship test registrations must be completed before 5.00 pm on Sunday, 7 March 2010.
Additional instructions and notes:
a. The scholarship testing will be held on Saturday, 13 March 2010 from 8.30 am to 12.00 noon at ICA Casey College. b. Any other attached documents will not be considered by the selection panel in this initial phase of the process.
c. Applications will be received by the College up until 5.00 pm Friday, 12 March 2010. Applications received after this time will not be considered by the selection panel.

Assessment Criteria
The 2010 / 2011 Scholarships will be assessed by considering the following four categories:
1. Demonstrated academic achievement and capacity:
-
outstanding achievement in literacy and numeracy as well as in at least three other subjects or areas of learning achievement;

demonstrated capacity to consistently attain personal best results whilst maintaining a healthy life balance with family, sporting involvement, clubs, youth groups, hobbies and other pursuits.
2. Capacity to contribute to the College’s vision as leader and learner: In order to satisfy the parameters of this criterion, candidates will be assessed in their application and at interview as to the extent to which they are able to:

Demonstrate qualities of self-confidence, optimism, high self-esteem, and a commitment to personal excellence;

Analyse and solve problems;
-
Communicate ideas and information, plan and organize activities, and collaborate with others;
-
Exercise judgment and responsibility in matters of morality, ethics and social justice, and accept responsibility for their own actions;
-
Demonstrate how they have sought to become informed citizens with an understanding of Australia’s system of government and civic life;
-
Use new technologies in a confident and considered manner;
-
Demonstrate their understanding of, and concern for, the stewardship of the natural environment;
-
Display their knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to establish and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
3. Sporting achievements and contributions:

State and national team selection record;
-
Team leadership (captaincy) record;
-
Sporting performance capacity and attitude (under testimonial by an independent party - selector or representative team coach)
4. Artistic (Visual, Performing and Musical) ability and potential.

Awards or study completed (AMEB Grade 3 or higher as minimum) in at least one artistic pursuit;
-
Level and extent of participation and achievement in performance - include details (e.g. Instrument played, lead roles in productions, level of performance)
Short Listing and Interviews
The selection panel will review all applications and a number of candidates will be short listed and invited to attend an interview.
Short listed candidates will be notifed by telephone before Wednesday 31 March 2010.
With the exception of school reports, no documentation should be submitted with this application form.
Candidates presenting for interview will be required to bring documentation to support claims made in their application. In addition, they may also bring certificates, awards or documents that they wish the panel to review in support of their application.
